Overview
It is quite possible that you will need to renew a client's authorization over the course of their treatment. This article will show you how to record the updated authorization in the Clients Module, Payers tab.
Update an Existing Authorization
Scenario A: The Same Authorization Number
If the payer extends the end date of the authorization or increases the units but keeps the original authorization number:
- Go to the Clients Module.
- Double-click on the client you want to update the authorization for.
- The Client window will open.
- Click on the Payers tab > Authorizations sub-tab.
- Increase the following fields to reflect the updated authorization:
- Max Units
- To (End Date)
- Click Save.
Scenario B: A New Authorization Number
If the payer sends you an entirely new authorization number:
- Go to the Clients Module.
- Double-click on the client you want to update the authorization for.
- The Client window will open.
- Click on the Payers tab > Authorizations sub-tab.
- Enter the new authorization as you did with the original.
- If you want Procentive to begin using the new authorization immediately (regardless of remaining units on the old authorization), check the box in the Inactive column for the previous authorization.
- If you do not mark the previous authorization as Inactive, Procentive will continue to attach it to the client's service lines until its date or units expire, and then pick up with the new authorization number.
- Click Save.
